For visitors who prefer to see more of the Dominican countryside, there are land-based excursions such as safari tours, horseback riding and dune buggies. These activities include snorkeling, windsurfing, banana boat rides, speedboats, scuba diving, catamaran cruises, party boats, deep sea fishing, as well as swimming with dolphins and sharks and snorkeling with stingrays. Many of the excursions in Punta Cana are near the water, it being a beach destination. Punta Cana is a tourist destination, and the area is a key contributor to tourism in the Dominican Republic. The electricity is powered by Consorcio Energetico Punta Cana Macao (CEPM), a fossil fuel, renewable, and biomass energy producer led by US-based Argentine businessman Rolando Gonzalez-Bunster. It was the western hemisphere's first privately owned international airport. Grupo Puntacana built the Punta Cana International Airport in 1984 to facilitate tourism in the area. In 2014, Punta Cana received over 2.4 million passengers, making it the second-busiest airport in the Caribbean. The Punta Cana International Airport is the primary airport. The area also has several nightclubs such as: Oro at Hard Rock Hotel, Imagine, and Coco Bongo or Pachá. Throughout the area there are dozens of hotels such as Riu, Iberostar, Be Live Grand Punta Cana, Meliá, Barceló, Palladium, Catalonia or Bahía Príncipe. Bavaro area īávaro was conceived as a town for the workers of the Punta Cana tourist complex, but it has been transformed into an important center for tourist services after the hotel expansion to the north of Punta Cana around Bávaro beach. The Puntacana Foundation- made of the Ecological Foundation and Community Services- has a 1,500-acre reserve that now serves as a research base for universities and a sanctuary for endangered species and has opened two schools- the Ann & Ted Kheel Polytechnic and the Puntacana International School- and a free health clinic in the local community of Véron. In 2000, the first of the residential community developments began and six years later Tortuga Bay opened.Ĭorporate environmental and social responsibilities and policies have been pursued since the resort was built. In 1996, the Dominican designer Óscar de la Renta and the Spanish singer Julio Iglesias joined the project. In 1993, construction began on the Marina de Punta Cana Resort & Club marina. In 1979, the Hotel Puntacana was built and then in 1984, the Punta Cana International Airport was inaugurated, while more infrastructures such as highways were developed. Later, the Barceló and Newco Group settled in the Bavaro area. In 1978, the Paris Mediterranean Club joined the Grupo Punta Cana SA project, building a 350-room hotel within the project. In 1970, Rainieri changed the original name of the place, Yauya or Punta Borrachos, for Punta Cana. Their first project was a 40 guest hotel called the Punta Cana Club. At the time the closest major city, Higüey, was a 5-hour drive. The area that is known today as Punta Cana was mostly an undeveloped coastal area of La Altagracia province. In the late 1960s, Frank Rainieri, a Dominican entrepreneur in his 20s and Theodore Kheel, a high-powered New York attorney and labor mediator teamed up with other investors, to acquire a 58-million square meter lot on the eastern end of the Dominican Republic. Source 1: World Meteorological Organization The weather is hot for most of the year, especially in late summer and autumn when the Northern Tropics receive their most direct sunlight. The area is known for its white sand beaches, blue turquoise waters, and balnearios which face both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. This airport receives 64% of all flights that arrive in the Dominican Republic, receiving more passengers than the Las Américas International Airport, located in Santo Domingo, the country's capital. The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is located about 3 km inland, on the highway that leads from Higüey to La Romana. Punta Cana is the second-most popular tourist destination in Latin America, with more visitors than any other city in the Caribbean region. According to the 2010 census, this district had a population of 54,128. It is part of the Veron–Punta Cana municipal district, in the Higüey municipality of La Altagracia Province. GarageBand for MacOS comes loaded with many excellent plugins and effects that you can use to shape your sounds and mix your projects to a professional level. Next, we put a Raspberry Pi into the Flirc Raspberry Pi 4 case and ran the same test. Unsurprisingly, the Raspberry Pi with no heat sink attached quickly went up to 79 ☌ and hovered at that level for the rest of the test, nudging up against (but not pushing over) the level where Raspbian starts to throttle the CPU. Warning! Don’t do this at home without doing your research first. For each test, we left the Raspberry Pi to run for five minutes. This puts all four cores of Raspberry Pi 4 under stress. We used stress (apt install stress) and the following script from Core Electronics to test our Raspberry Pi 4 while measuring temperature: while true do vcgencmd measure_clock arm vcgencmd measure_temp sleep 10 done& stress -c 4 -t 300s Watch your Raspberry Pi and restart afterwards. WARNING!: Stress testing should only be done for short periods. We stress-tested a Raspberry Pi 4 board on its own vs a Raspberry Pi 4 inside the Flirc case to see what temperatures it reported. However, for many of us, GPIO pins are the very essence of Raspberry Pi. If you plan to use Raspberry Pi as a desktop computer, then this might be a valid trade-off. But it’s an ungainly addition to such a lovely looking case. To Flirc’s credit, it has addressed this issue via a small gap on the underneath of the Flirc Raspberry Pi 4 case, which could be used with a breakout I/O cable. Unlike the official case, the lid cannot be quickly removed to provide access to the pins. One downside to the sealed approach is that the GPIO pins are hidden away inside the case. The microSD card slot is easily accessible, and a small cut-out on the enclosure enables the LEDs to shine through. Everything is neatly constructed from high-quality materials and there’s considerable charm to the heat sink. Putting together the case is ludicrously simple: you simply drop a Raspberry Pi in the bottom half, attach the thermal paste, squidge down the lid, and use four screws to hold everything together.įlirc claims that this is “the most beautifully crafted Raspberry Pi 4 case” and it’s not a wholly unwarranted claim. You use this to squidge the Raspberry Pi to the heat sink. Inside the pack is a square thermal pad (similar in substance to Blu Tack). This turns the whole of the aluminium case into a giant heat sink, cooling down your Raspberry Pi 4. Here’s where things get clever: inside the case is a protruding heat sink that reaches down to Raspberry Pi 4’s CPU. If I'm reading this correctly, then it sounds like you're saying "if you beta tested the game on whatever platform, you get the beta-testing skin," and that's. No, it should only be given on consoles that had the game at around that time. I’ve paid 50$ for exclusive skins that eventually were just given to everyone free anyway… but- What your saying here makes no sense. and because my inventory can now be shared across accounts just link my Mobile/Xs version (released about 2-3 years from the moment of this post) and I’ll have the skin from being in Beta of the game when it launches on a new platform? So what your saying is- if Klei did this like right now this second and gave like a 2-3 week grace period for the platform if I missed the date to get the skin on PC/ then Ps4 later and a year later on Xbox- I could go out right now and buy the game on Nintendo Switch and since it’s in the “grace” period of owning it when it first launches I will get the skin awarded to me on my Switch, And if I happen to miss that- a few years from now When/If DST is rereleased on Mobile Smartphones or PS5/XS I can just buy the game during THAT Grace period and be awarded the skin. I believe that it would be possible for them to just look up on dates when people bought the game and distribute it. It is not about gatekeeping skins, it is about gatekeeping one skin that was given for a very special reason to players that bought the game at that What klei should've done is give the skin to all the players that bought DST at that time on consoles. It was a simple skin in the game that should've stayed exclusive, it is not a collection as it was given as early access award and it was said that it was given for that. It doesn't make any sense to have rarities that don't have any differences in the game. Rarities have no value, its only a word that says timeless or loyal in your curio, not like you even look at that yourself and other players would care even less for it. Would DST continue developing to this day if it didn't get the initial support or any other games in EA for that matter? How can you even use the argument that you haven't been there? That's the whole point. because chances are I’ll never get to crossplay with switch players anyway. I wouldn’t care at all if DST had Switch exclusive skins. & finally if you play Minecraft on Nintendo consoles- You can have an exclusive Mario themed Mashup skin/Texture pack. If you’ve ever played Minecraft on Xbox you’d know it has Halo & State of Decay exclusive skins/Mashup packs, If you played on PlayStation- You got A Spider-Man skin set that was once actually available on Xbox but when Sony bought the rights to the franchise (yes Spider-Man franchise is owned by Sony.) The skin set that was on Xbox was removed & now it’s exclusive to playing on PlayStation. Quick question, if Console players are never ever ever going to be able to play Crossplatform with PC- What does it matter if console players can finally get a skin they could’ve only gotten if they had been playing on PC in a Early Access Beta?Īnother Question- If Nintendo Switch got console exclusive Nintendo Licensed skins (Mario, Donkey Kong Etc.) Would people on Xbox/PlayStation/PC be angry that they can’t use that consoles exclusive skins? Moreover, our data suggest that the risk of a new SARS-CoV-2 infection was higher in the previously uninfected HCWs than in those who had already contracted natural viral infection. We report that the mean level of post vaccinal RBD S-protein IgG was significantly higher in the previously infected HCWs than in previously uninfected subjects at 45 and 240 days after the second-dose vaccine. No new infections were found in previously SARS-CoV-2 infected subjects. In addition, in the HCWs group without previous infection we reported 53 new SARS-CoV-2 infections and they had a mean level of RBD S-protein IgG antibodies of 1039 AU/mL (95% CI 157–4237) at 240 days. When comparing the change in mean antibody levels overtime, the previously infected HCWs presented a 72.9% reduction in RBD S-protein IgG while in the previously uninfected HCWs the reduction was 88.0%. Similarly, at 240 days in previously infected subjects the antibody titer was of 8145 AU/mL (95% CI 347–80,000) and significantly higher ( p < 0.001) than that observed in the 1121 previously uninfected HCWs with a mean antibody level of 1271 AU/mL (95% CI 50–80,000). The mean level of the RBD S-protein IgG detected 45 days after the second dose of the vaccine was 30,041 AU/mL (95% CI 145–80,000) for the 250 previously infected HCWs and it was significantly higher ( p < 0.001) than that observed in the 1121 previously uninfected subject with the mean level of 10,604 AU/mL (95% CI 165–62,241). The Mann–Whitney U test was used to compare mean levels of RBD S-Protein IgG among previously infected and uninfected HCWs. Previous infection was defined as antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid positivity (Abbott Diagnostics) before vaccination. In all HCWs at the Poliambulanza Foundation Hospital Brescia (Italy) were quantified the levels of RBD S-Protein IgG (Abbott Diagnostics) at 45 and 240 days after the second-dose vaccine. This observational prospective study was designed to verify durability of antibodies against the viral receptor-binding domain (RBD) spike (S)-protein (RBD S-Protein IgG) after the second-dose administration of the vaccine among Health Care Workers (HCWs). The long-term effectiveness of BNT162b2/Pfizer vaccine remains undetermined. With the effort both fighters put in early in the bout, fatigue was always likely to impact the occasion at some stage, and that started to become clear as Ramirez tried to gain back some control in the 10th, catching Taylor with a couple of jabs before landing a combination on him late in the round. He shone again in the eighth with another strong left hand the pick of the bunch. The knockdowns saw Taylor up his levels and cranked him up in the scorecards as the see-sawing encounter shifted in the Scot's favour. Taylor has become the fifth male fighter to unify a division in the four-belt era This time when he staggered to his feet Taylor aimed to end the fight, but the man scrambling from the canvas was saved by the bell. Taylor showed no signs of letting up and looked well in his groove as he earned a second knockdown in the seventh, thundering a shuddering uppercut to Ramirez. The American responded impeccably to get back on his feet quickly and smacked a right before the home favourite took another stinging left from the Scot to top an explosive round. Within 15 seconds of the sixth round, the Scot sent Ramirez to the canvas with a huge left hand over the top. He came out swinging, landing a strong right hook and another left hand as the end of the fifth neared. Both fighters exchanged tasty shots throughout the fourth, resulting in a cut opening above the Scot's left eye.īut despite the blood trickling down his cheek, he composed himself to take a foothold in the fight. Resurgent Taylor stirred from withinĪt times, Taylor almost looked overwhelmed with the 28-year-old's speed. The American further pressed Taylor in the third, opening up and lunging forward to land a strong left hand before pressuring the Edinburgh fighter, again on the ropes, and ending the round with a strong uppercut. Underdog Ramirez started aggressively, catching Taylor with a jab late in the first round and continuing to impress in the second by giving the Scot trouble with a flurry of shots up against the ropes. Often fights with so much on the line can take time to heat up, but this one hurled out the blocks as the bell echoed out, both fighters catching each other with body shots early. There was everything to lose in Nevada, but glory was also within the grasp of the two men. Question marks were raised about the promotion of the event, billed as bout of the year, with fellow Briton Billy Joe Saunders fighting in front of a record indoor US crowd with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez a fortnight prior.īut there were no doubts about the quality fight fans were about to witness, with four world title belts on the line and two unbeaten records consisting of 43 contests between two pristine fighters in their prime. 5 Live Boxing with Costello & Bunce: Instant reaction as Taylor beats Ramirez.'It would be amazing' - Taylor open to Crawford fight.Victory in the epic contest at the Virgin Hotel in Nevada, less than seven years on from winning gold at Glasgow's Commonwealth games as an amateur, means Taylor retains his IBF and WBA titles while adding the WBO and WBC belts to his cabinet. I'll risk $50 to potentially win $350.Taylor, who is undefeated in 18 bouts after inflicting Ramirez's first loss, is just the fifth man in the sport to hold all four belts in a division. I'll also lay a half-unit on Ramirez to win solely by unanimous decision at +700. I'll put a half-unit on Ramirez at +350, so I'll risk $50 there for the potential to make $175. You can bet on him by decision at +350, and you'll cash if he wins by majority decision, split decision, technical decision or unanimous decision. I'll also play Ramirez by decision, and this time, BetMGM has props. I'll lay one unit on him at +185, risking $100 to win $185. So my play here is to take Ramirez because of the value. I see it as more of a situation of Taylor as a 6-5 favorite, but he's more than double that. I have a slight lean toward Taylor, but I think the line is weighted too heavily in his direction. They're both smart fighters and unlikely to get themselves in enough trouble to be finished, so I will lay two units on the fight going 11 full rounds or more. Otherwise, Taylor has gone to decision against Postol, Ivan Baranchyk and Prograis. Khongsong was totally undeserving of his mandatory status and was dispatched in one round. Taylor's knockout percentage is 76.5, but going back in his last five fights over three years, he's had two KOs, over Ryan Martin and Apinun Khongsong. He's gone the distance with Amir Imam, Antonio Orozco, Jose Zepeda and Viktor Postol. Ramirez's knockout percentage is 65.4, but in his last five fights over three years, the Hooker knockout is his only finish. Josh Taylor celebrates his win over Regis Prograis on Oct. (L-R) Jose Ramirez celebrates his TKO against Maurice Hooker on July 27, 2019. Before Redis 7.0.1 PUBLISH, SPUBLISH and PFCOUNT were not considered write commands in scripts.Read-only scripts and read-only script commands were introduced in Redis 7.0 Many clients also better support routing the read-only script commands to replicas for applications that want to use replicas for read scaling. They can be used to configure an ACL user to only be able to execute read-only scripts. In addition to the benefits provided by all read-only scripts, the read-only script commands have the following advantages: Currently PUBLISH, SPUBLISH and PFCOUNT are also considered write commands in scripts, because they could attempt to propagate commands to replicas and AOF file. They cannot execute any command that may modify the data set. They are not blocked during write pauses, such as those that occur during coordinated failovers. They never fail with OOM error when redis is over the memory limit. They can always be killed by the SCRIPT KILL command. They can always be executed on replicas.Read-only scripts can be executed either by adding the no-writes flag to the script or by executing the script with one of the read-only script command variants: EVAL_RO, EVALSHA_RO, or FCALL_RO. Read-only scriptsĪ read-only script is a script that only executes commands that don't modify any keys within Redis. However, if you intend to use a slow script in your application, be aware that all other clients are blocked and can't execute any command while it is running. It is not hard to create fast scripts because scripting's overhead is very low. Note that the potential downside of this blocking approach is that executing slow scripts is not a good idea. The blocking semantics of an executed script apply to all connected clients at all times. These semantics mean that all of the script's effects either have yet to happen or had already happened. The script's execution blocks all server activities during its entire time, similarly to the semantics of transactions. When running a script or a function, Redis guarantees its atomic execution. Please refer to the following pages for more information: In this case, loading a function to the database becomes an administrative deployment task (such as loading a Redis module, for example), which separates the script from the application. To use functions, they need to be loaded first, and then they are available for use by all connected clients. Secondly, added in v7.0, Redis Functions are essentially scripts that are first-class database elements.Īs such, functions decouple scripting from application logic and enable independent development, testing, and deployment of scripts. That is because scripts are only cached by the server and are volatile.Īs your application grows, this approach can become harder to develop and maintain. However, using them means that the scripted logic is a part of your application (not an extension of the Redis server).Įvery applicative instance that runs a script must have the script's source code readily available for loading at any time. Redis provides two means for running scripts.įirstly, and ever since Redis 2.6.0, the EVAL command enables running server-side scripts.Įval scripts provide a quick and straightforward way to have Redis run your scripts ad-hoc. Please refer to the Redis Lua API Reference page for complete documentation. Presently, Redis supports a single scripting engine, the Lua 5.1 interpreter. User scripts are executed in Redis by an embedded, sandboxed scripting engine. Such APIs can encapsulate business logic and maintain a data model across multiple keys and different data structures. In our case, scripts enable processing the data where it lives, a.k.a data locality.įurthermore, the responsible embedding of programmatic workflows in the Redis server can help in reducing network traffic and improving overall performance.ĭevelopers can use this capability for implementing robust, application-specific APIs. We refer to such pieces of logic as scripts. The term programmability in Redis means having the ability to execute arbitrary user-defined logic by the server. In many cases, these commands provide all the functionality that a developer requires for managing application data in Redis. Most the commands specialize at manipulating core data types in different ways. The language that Redis speaks consists of its commands. Redis is, by definition, a "domain-specific language for abstract data types". In Redis 6.2 and below, you use Lua scripting with the EVAL command to program the server. In Redis 7 and beyond, you can use Redis Functions to manage and run your scripts. Redis provides a programming interface that lets you execute custom scripts on the server itself. Extending Redis with Lua and Redis Functions "Sakakeeny’s approach to the tensions between continuity in change in Roll With It: Brass Bands in the Streets of New Orleans, searches past academic theories, tapping many interviews and his own experiences with musicians. It also poses a bigger question: If our city has economically benefitted from selling culture as a post-Katrina resource, are musicians getting what they deserve? Roll With It explores the answer.” - Samuel Nelson, Where Y'at? " Roll With It is informative on many levels, detailing song structures, jazz history, neighborhood developments, and weaving information together through anecdote and research. It’s an engaging look street-level look at the bands that so often are used to represent and symbolize the city.” - Will Coviello, Gambit Sakakeeny observes the way the city celebrates its culture and especially its musicians, but the book also exposes the way many of them survive on the same earnings as low-rung service industry workers. The book offers a full picture of their lives and how the city’s cultural economy works on the factory end. “Sakakeeny offers detailed accounts of parades and the inner workings of the bands. “A notable work in that it’s the first critical project to chronicle New Orleans’ bombastic contemporary brass-band scene, the generation of musicians that grew up with century-old hymns in one ear and hip-hop in the other also, and importantly, it’s a keen, social-justice-minded examination of the turbulent mix of race, economics, culture and tradition in which brass band culture is located.” - Alison Fensterstock, Times-Picayune Beyond its entertainment value, music serves as the ‘site where competing social, political, and economic vectors intersect.’ In many ways, these vectors serve as a microcosm for the problems within the city at large.” “As Sakakeeny makes clear, the story of the city’s brass bands is far more complex than music alone. The musicians' personal stories are interwoven with historical information, academic reflection, and personal experience, combining to form a highly original work that creates a vivid portrait both of this musical format and the noble but beleaguered city of New Orleans.” - Florence Wetzel, All About Jazz “ Roll With It, which includes striking black-and-white illustrations by New Orleans artist Willie Birch, is at once celebratory and saddening: a book of personal stories and a highly researched academic work.” - Geraldine Wyckoff, Offbeat Labor and Working-Class History Association.Association for Middle East Women's Studies.Author Resources from University Presses.Permissions Information for Journal Authors.Journals fulfilled by DUP Journal Services.placed my order at 10.56am I rang 1 hour later at 11.56am to be told my order had left the shop, I then phoned again at 12.18 as my food still hadn't arrived and I expressed my frustration that I had now been waiting 1hour 20mins to be told they weren't doing it on purpose it wasn't their fault and in actual fact the food had not yet left the shop despite being told 20 mins previously it was on its way! 12.45 came around and still no food, phoned again to then be told in a very rude manner that it was my fault the food was taking so long because I should have phoned earlier and did I not realise they were busy! The food arrived at 1pm and I had to pay full price- £15. Never experienced anything like it! Not only did 3 breakfasts take over 2 hours to arrive,it was cold and not of great quality but that wasn't the worst bit of the experience! Customer service was absolutely appauling, the staff were rude, unapoligetic and liars!!! I.
